Eucharistic Adoration at St. Mary’s Parish - London, ON
A little history: With God’s bountiful grace and a lot of faith of a few parishioners from St. Mary’s, Perpetual Adoration was established here, for the first time, in London, on the feast of the Ascension of Our Lord, in May 1995. It was started on a very shaky foundation, indeed, with only a handful
of committed adorers, considerably less than one third of the normally
required number. There were many who did not believe it could be done
here or that it would not survive for more than a few months, at best. In 1999 with prayers, dedication, and financial support from the adorers, the people St. Mary’s and the countless companies that donated material, labour, etc., the Chapel underwent major renovation. During which, the Eucharistic Adoration was transferred temporarily in the church’s meeting room of the parish hall. On Thursday, September 16, 1999, the Chapel was reopened. On December 6th of the same year, the Chapel was among the places selected by Bishop John M. Sherlock to fulfill the indulgence requirements during the Jubilee Year for all pilgrims in our Diocese and surrounding area. What an honour! On December 31, 1999 followed by a procession from the Church to the Chapel, the door was blessed by Fr. Joseph A. Dabrowski. Only God knows, the blessings that have already been obtained, individually,
for St. Mary’s parish and for all of London in these 6 years. How
many lives have been changed, how many have been healed in body, mind
and especially, spiritually? How much adversity of all kinds avoided?
How could it be otherwise, since both Scripture and Mother Church teach
us that God is never outdone in generosity and delights to give generous
gifts to His children, especially when they come to Him in the intimacy
of His presence in the Most Blessed Sacrament! |
